Continuing Education Courses 2008

Dear Students and Friends,

The 2008 line up is still in process. Workshops are offered from so many different sources these days that, frankly, there are more workshops than participants to fill them. The result is workshops are cancelled regularly. More often than not very short notice to the registrants creates more of a problem. Last year, for the frist time in 25+ years, TMTI was even forced to reschedule one workshop and cancel one due to low enrollment. Scheduling courses is a huge challenge in this environment. To assure that each workshop we offer actually takes place we are offering fewer choices and asking presenters to accept lower enrollments. You can help. Register early, be certain of your interest and honor your committment.

Below you may see the confirmed 2008 offerings. Your feedback is appreciated. Let us know what you want and what you're tired of seeing.

We still want to begin the Shiatsu Certification with Michael Alicia. Interest has been high but registration low so we are on hold with the full program. We will offer the Introduction again which can stand alone for 25 CEU's. Click the above link for detailed information. Please contact us if you are truly committed to taking the full certification program.

The Complete Neck Series with Michael Alicia

NCTMB 16 Hours Category A

space available

The Complete Neck Series was born out of an ever present need to help clients deal with their neck problems. A majority of clients arrive complaining of neck issues, whether due to postural imbalances, work related issues or simply stress and tension. This series incorporates the work of renouned practitioners and teachers like Tom Myers (Anatomy Trains), Robert King (Myofascial Release), Aaron Mattis, (Active Isometric Stretching), Kikuko Miyazaki (Sotai), Janet Travell (Trigger Point Release) and my own work, Michael Alicia, with passive stretching techniques (The Stretching Process) to address neck issues.

The workshop incorporates a 3-step approach to deal with neck issues to not only alleviate stress, tension and pain but also identify chronic problems. We begin by looking at the architecture of the body, the hard skeleton and muscle attachments and then the soft skeleton, the myofascia, and exploring its properties as both structural and flexible. We will then identify muscular and postural imbalances (like Head Forward and Upper Cross) and then work to release fascial tightness, restore muscular balance and then re-educate the muscles (and the client) to restore stress-free muscular function with Active and Passive Stretching exercises.
