I'm Lynda Clay, Director, of the Therapeutic Massage Training Institute.  I know how hectic life can get for all of us. On this page, I'd like to share some of the ways I've found to reduce stress and relieve tension. I will also try to answer your questions related to therapeutic massage.

So what can we do to relax and enjoy living? Of course the best tool for reducing stress is to receive professional, therapeutic massage. However, there are effective ways you can help yourself. You can begin right this moment!

Try this...Sit back in your chair, place both feet on the floor, let your arms fall to your side or rest hands in your lap.
Take a deep breath... exhale and repeat the process. Each time you exhale, allow your body to relax. First your shoulders, feel them drop comfortably. Exhale slowly, allow your feet to settle onto the floor, exhale and feel your calves relax.
Breathe fully and naturally... exhale and let your hips go. Inhale slowly feeling the breath move to your abdomen, as you breath out, let your stomach relax. On your next breath feel your spine relax into natural straight alignment.
Allow yourself to let go... feel your shoulders relax further as you exhale again, allowing the muscles in your neck to let go. Now just breathe for a minute, close your eyes and focus on you breathing. When you're ready open your eyes and see how you're feeling.
It's that simple.   Something you already know how to do, done with awareness can facilitate change. To paraphrase Socrates, change the body, change the mind. It's true both ways.

More on the subject of awareness next time. Hope you're feeling better. I will update this page often, so please visit again. In the meantime, keep breathing!
